NLB History

No Longer Bound was conceived in 1983 and was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation in 1991 by founder, and current Executive Director, Mike Harden. Mike, a former Marine with a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1968-69 has had his own battles with addictions. Mike found freedom from his addiction through a personal relationship and encounter with God and received the call to start No Longer Bound.

In the early days, the ministry used a borrowed house and soon the men began to show up seeking help. One by one, the men were coming for help. Some were dropped off by a friend or a loved one while others miraculously found their way to what was then called "New Freedom Lodge". New Freedom Lodge became home and refuge to men who had given up, or were given up on by life.

"New Freedom Lodge" became "Zoe House", moving from a halfway house to a full time drug and alcohol program. The initial commitment was 6 months but as time has passed, the regeneration program at No Longer Bound has developed into a 10-month in-patient treatment program.

There are many testimonies that make up the complete history of No Longer Bound. The growth that has taken place at No Longer Bound is nothing but a miracle from God. The history of No Longer Bound is an on-going process of God's provision in helping us achieve our mission, the regeneration of addicts and their families through the healing power of the Holy Spirit.
